For those Palace fans, braving the wrath of their loved ones for going on Boxing Day, hoping for another epic performance, they were left feeling perhaps a little short changed. However, there is lots to be positive about with many opportunities created in the second half, just none exploited into an actual goal. With a stonking 31 shots on goal, Palace did all but score, lending more to the argument and hope of a January signing of a striker.

Palace started the first half brightly, with early corners and crosses into the box. There was a respectful minute of applause in the 7th minute for the Croydon 7. There was some really good link up play between Townsend, Ayew and McArthur. Townsend even hitting the side netting. Wan-Bissaka, once again showing how important he is to the Palace side, with his class shining through, solid in defence and bright and threatening on attack. A well-structured and disciplined Palace defence saw Chelsea have just one shot on goal in eight attempts during the first 45 minutes.
